What it is
SocialWatch adds a community layer on top of your library without ever sharing your server. You become a Watcher, like movies and series, rate them with popcorns, leave short reviews, and see what other Watchers like. It works on TV, phone and tablet and is free. It is not available on Kids profiles.
Titles are matched by their TMDB id, so people with different servers can talk about the same film. Your Jellyfin server address is never shared.
Become a Watcher
- Open SocialWatch in the TV sidebar, or Settings → SocialWatch on a phone.
- Select Join the Watchers.
- Sign in with Google. Google sign-in is not available on Fire TV.
- Create your Watcher profile: a name (3 to 50 characters) and an optional bio (up to 280 characters).
On TV, finish Quick Login first. You can edit your picture only from the phone or tablet app.
Like, rate and review
On a movie or series page:
- Like as a Watcher adds your like. The page shows how many Watchers liked it.
- Rate from 1 to 5 popcorns.
- Write a review of up to 1,000 characters. You can mark it as a spoiler. Other readers have to tap to reveal it.
You can edit or delete your review later.
If Rate after watching is on in Settings, the app asks How was …? when you finish a movie or series.
Reviews need TMDB data for the title. If you see Reviews require TMDB metadata, refresh the library metadata on your server.
Read reviews
Mark a review Helpful or Not helpful. Sort by Top rated, Trending or Most recent. Reviews can have replies of up to 500 characters.
The feed and presence
- The SocialWatch feed has the tabs Everyone and Following, with Recent Likes and Recent reviews.
- Watching now on Home shows live cards of what other Watchers are playing, and review cards. Turn the row off with Watchers on the home screen.
- Your own "now watching" status is shared only if your profile is Public. While you play, the app sends a short heartbeat about every 90 seconds.
Follow other Watchers
Follow, unfollow and Follow back. Lists show Followers and Following. On a title page you can see which Watchers you follow liked it.
Notifications
SocialWatch tells you about a new follower, a reply to your review, a vote, a new review by someone you follow, and moderation notices. Open Notifications in the TV sidebar. On phone and tablet an unread badge appears on the Settings tab. The Push notifications switch controls push messages. Turning it off hides SocialWatch notifications only.
Privacy

You can also Show my badge to display your Premium or Supporter badge next to your name.
To leave:
- Set the visibility to Private, or sign out. Your profile and reviews are kept.
- Export my data downloads your reviews, likes and profile as a JSON file.
- Delete Watcher profile is permanent. The app asks you to wait a few seconds, then confirm with Yes, delete forever.
Moderation
- Report a review or a reply: Spam, Inappropriate, Spoiler or Other.
- Block this Watcher: they disappear from your feed and search, and are not notified. Manage them under Blocked Watchers.
- A flagged review of yours is reviewed by a moderator. You receive a notice if it is flagged or removed.
