JellyWatch Player

Kids Profile

Give children their own profile with a simpler interface, a parental PIN and optional screen-time limits.

What it is

A Kids profile is a profile in Kids mode. The app shows a simple home screen with large poster cards, a colour theme and no adult navigation. Settings and account switching are locked behind a parental PIN.

Your first Kids profile is free. Extra Kids profiles and the advanced parental controls need Premium.

Create a Kids profile

  1. Open Who's watching? and select Add account. See Multi-account.
  2. Choose Profile type → Child (Kids mode).
  3. Follow the steps of Create Kids Profile:
    • Connection: the server address and the Jellyfin account the child will use.
    • Profile name, for example Lea.
    • Choose a theme: Blue, Orange or Green.
    • Exit PIN: the 4-digit PIN that parents enter to leave Kids mode, then confirm it. You can choose Skip, no PIN needed.
    • Content filtering: read the warning and hold the button to confirm.
    • Ready to create: check the summary and select Create profile.

Content filtering is up to your server. JellyWatch does not filter content. What a child sees depends on the Jellyfin account's restrictions: libraries, parental rating limits and so on. Set them up on the server before handing over the device.

What a child sees

  • A simplified Home with large cards and a Continue watching row.
  • A top bar with Movies, TV Shows, Favorites and Settings.
  • Only the libraries and titles the Jellyfin account allows.

Kids profiles do not show the sidebar, Recommendations, Watch Pass, Watch Party, SocialWatch, Achievements, Premium, Supporter or Admin. The player hides Speed, Aspect, Quality, Stats and Picture in picture. A Kids profile cannot be linked to other profiles or sent to a TV with Connect my TV.

Leave Kids mode

Select Exit Kids Mode in the top bar and enter the parental PIN (Leave Kids mode? Enter the parental PIN to continue).

Parental controls

Open Parental Controls from the Kids top bar. Enter the PIN first (Enter PIN to access parental settings).
