What it does
Cinema mode connects JellyWatch Player to your Home Assistant. When you press Play, the app can call a script or scene, for example to dim the lights. Another one runs on Pause, and another on Stop. You decide what each one does in Home Assistant.
Cinema mode needs Premium. It also needs a Home Assistant server that the device can reach. It works on TV and on phone and tablet.
What you need
- A running Home Assistant instance.
- The scripts, scenes or services you want to trigger, already created in Home Assistant.
- A long-lived access token from Home Assistant.
Create the access token
- In Home Assistant, open your Profile.
- Go to Security.
- Under Long-lived access tokens, create a token and copy it.
Set up JellyWatch Player
Open Settings → Home Assistant.
- Turn on Cinema mode (Enable Home Assistant on phone).
- Under Connection, enter the Server URL, for example
http://homeassistant.local:8123. - Paste the Access token.
- Select Test connection. You see Connected or Failed.
- Under Automations, fill in:
| Field | Runs when | Example |
|---|---|---|
| On play | You press play | script.cinema_on |
| On pause | You pause | script.cinema_off |
| On stop | You stop or leave the player | Leave empty to reuse the pause script |
Accepted formats include script.name, scene.name and a service such as light.turn_off.
Good to know
- JellyWatch talks directly to your Home Assistant. There is no cloud service in between, so the device must reach the server URL.
- Without Premium, the integration is off and no script is called.
- If a script does not run, check the token, the URL, and the script name. In Home Assistant, look at the script's trace.
