Standard sign-in
On the login screen:
- Enter the Server address (TV) or Server URL (phone), for example
https://jellyfin.yourdomain.comorhttp://192.168.1.10:8096. - The app detects whether the server is Jellyfin or Emby. It shows Detecting server type…, then Detected: Jellyfin or Detected: Emby.
- Enter your Username. The Password is optional, because Jellyfin allows accounts without a password.
- Select Sign in.
If you type an address without http:// or https://, the app adds http://. Only http and https addresses are accepted.
Choosing the server type yourself
Select Jellyfin or Emby in the Server type selector. A manual choice is never replaced by a late detection result. If detection fails, the app assumes Jellyfin and shows Type not detected - select manually.
Sign in from your phone (TV Quick Login)
Typing on a TV remote is slow. Use Sign in from JellyWatch app instead.
On the TV
- On the login screen, select Sign in from JellyWatch app.
- The TV shows a 6-character code with a countdown (Expires in … s). The code is valid for about five minutes.
On the phone (JellyWatch Player or JellyWatch Admin)
- Open Settings and select Connect my TV.
- Enter the code in Code displayed on the TV.
- The screen shows The TV will sign in as …. This is the account active on the phone.
- Select Connect my TV. You see TV connected successfully!.
The TV signs in. If a cloud backup exists for that account, the TV asks whether to restore it (Restore or Skip).
Good to know:
- The phone must be signed in with a Google account. If it is not, the screen asks you to sign in with Google first.
- Kids profiles cannot be sent to a TV.
- If the code expires, select Generate new code. If you see Too many attempts, wait a moment.
- Fire TV cannot sign in with Google, but a Fire TV can still receive a sign-in approved from a phone.
Restore settings from a file
Both login screens have Restore settings from file. Use it to import a settings backup exported earlier. See Backup & restore.
Accounts, certificates and addresses
- One address per server. To use the app at home and away, use an address that works in both places, such as a domain name with HTTPS.
- Self-signed certificates work only if the certificate authority is installed on the device as a user certificate. The app has no switch to ignore certificate errors.
- Several accounts: see Multi-account.
