Your Smart Home Reacts When You Watch
Home Assistant Cinema Mode connects JellyWatch to your smart home. When you press Play, your lights can dim automatically. When you Pause, they come back up. When you Stop, everything returns to normal. You decide what happens - JellyWatch just tells Home Assistant what you are doing.
Cinema Mode requires Premium and a Home Assistant setup on your home network.
What You Need
- A running Home Assistant instance on your home network.
- A smart home device you want to control (lights, blinds, etc.) already set up in Home Assistant.
- JellyWatch for Android TV with Premium active.
Setting It Up
Step 1 - Create an automation in Home Assistant
- Open Home Assistant.
- Go to Settings → Automations → Create Automation.
- Set the trigger to Webhook.
- Copy the Webhook URL that appears - you will need it in the next step.
- Add your actions: dim lights on Play, raise them on Pause and Stop.
- Save the automation.
Step 2 - Connect JellyWatch
- Open Settings in JellyWatch.
- Go to Home Assistant.
- Turn on Cinema Mode.
- Paste the Webhook URL from Step 1.
- Press Save.
Done. Press Play on any video and your automation will run.
What Triggers the Automation

Your automation can do different things for each event - that is entirely up to you in Home Assistant.
It Only Works on Your Local Network
JellyWatch talks directly to your Home Assistant - there is no cloud in between. Both your TV and Home Assistant need to be on the same home network (or Home Assistant needs to be accessible from your TV).
Something Not Working?
- Make sure Home Assistant is reachable from your TV - try opening its address in the TV browser.
- Double-check you pasted the correct Webhook URL in JellyWatch Settings.
- In Home Assistant, check Settings → Automations → [your automation] → Traces to see if the trigger arrived.
