Watching is done in JellyWatch Player
JellyWatch Admin is made to manage your server. For watching, use JellyWatch Player, the app built for movies, series and music on TV, phone and tablet. See the JellyWatch Player documentation.
What happens when you tap Play
In a library list, tapping a movie, an episode, a video or a music video (and tapping an episode on a series screen) opens a dialog titled Watch in JellyWatch Player. It explains that playback in the Admin app is limited and that JellyWatch Player is made for watching.

Other items behave differently:
- Music tracks and audiobooks play directly in JellyWatch Admin.
- Series open their details page.
- Books open in an external EPUB reader app.
The built-in player
The built-in player of JellyWatch Admin is basic. It does not include the extras of JellyWatch Player, such as Watch Party or recommendations. It supports picture-in-picture.
Playback in JellyWatch Admin is free. It is not part of Admin Features.
Users who are not administrators
When a non-admin Jellyfin user signs in to JellyWatch Admin, the app shows a simplified user interface with a banner: This interface is deprecated. Use JellyWatch Player to watch your media. Ask those users to install JellyWatch Player instead. See Watch Pass to give them extra features there.
