Unlock Detailed Jellyfin Viewing Statistics and History on Android (2026)

You have built the perfect self-hosted media server. Hundreds of movies, dozens of TV series, a carefully curated music library. But do you actually know how it gets used?

JellyWatch gives you the analytics layer Jellyfin's default interface lacks - detailed viewing statistics, historical playback data, interactive charts, and per-user breakdowns, all in your pocket.

What Statistics Does JellyWatch Surface?

Per-User Viewing Time

See exactly how much each user on your server has watched:

  • Total hours watched (lifetime and per period)
  • Most-watched content type (movies, series, music)
  • Activity trends: are they watching more or less than last month?

Viewing History with Full Detail

Browse a complete, searchable history of every media item played on your server:

  • Media title and cover art
  • User who watched it
  • Date, time, and duration of the viewing session
  • Playback progress (did they finish it?)
  • Type of media (Movie, Episode, Music)

Interactive Trend Charts

Visual charts that show watching patterns over time:

  • Daily view: see peak usage hours
  • Weekly view: identify which days are most active
  • Monthly view: track seasonal trends
  • Yearly view: understand long-term growth of your server usage

Content Type Breakdown

A visual breakdown of what your users actually watch:

  • 🎬 Movies vs. πŸ“Ί TV episodes vs. 🎡 Music
  • Useful for optimizing your library and storage priorities

Real-World Use Cases

Family server admin:

"I use the per-user statistics to see that my kids are watching 3x more on weekends. I used the trend data to justify upgrading my server's RAM last summer."

Friend group server:

"The viewing history helps me recommend movies - I can see what everyone has already watched. It's like a social feature built into the admin app."

Solo self-hoster:

"I shared my year-in-review stats card on Reddit's r/selfhosted. Got a ton of engagement."

How JellyWatch Gets This Data

JellyWatch pulls statistics from the Jellyfin API using the /user_usage_stats/ endpoint (provided by the Jellyfin playback reporting plugin) and the native /System/ActivityLog/Entries endpoint.

Note: For the richest statistics (including per-user viewing time and historical data), the Jellyfin Playback Reporting plugin must be installed on your server. Install it via the Jellyfin Plugin Catalog in your server's dashboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my viewing history empty? Ensure the Jellyfin Playback Reporting plugin is installed and active on your server. Without it, Jellyfin does not log detailed playback history.

Can I see statistics for multiple servers? Yes - with JellyWatch Premium (multi-server support), you can switch between servers and view statistics for each one independently.

Is the statistics data stored by JellyWatch? No. All data is pulled live from your Jellyfin server. JellyWatch does not store or transmit your viewing history to any external server.

Can I export statistics to a spreadsheet? Export to CSV/Excel is available for Premium users from the Statistics screen β†’ Export button.

Conclusion

Jellyfin gives you the infrastructure to serve your media. JellyWatch gives you the intelligence to understand how it's being used. Viewing history, per-user breakdowns, interactive trend charts, and social sharing all combine to make JellyWatch the most complete analytics companion for Jellyfin admins.

The interactive trend charts are addictive. I can see exactly when my server is busiest. Friday nights, obviously.
