About JellyWatch
The story behind the app.
How It Started
JellyWatch was born out of a simple frustration. I was running a Jellyfin server at home and juggling half a dozen web interfaces on my phone just to check who was watching what, whether a download had finished, or why the CPU was maxed out at 2 AM. No existing Android app gave me a single place to see all of that. So I started building one for myself.
The first version was a web dashboard scoped to my own server. Once it worked, porting it to Android made sense because that's where I actually needed it, on the couch, on the go, not in front of my desktop.
After publishing it on Google Play on July 8, 2025, more people than expected found it useful and started using it. What began as a tool built for myself gradually became something adopted by a wider community of self-hosters.
What It Is Today
JellyWatch is a companion app for Jellyfin server administrators and power users. It gives you a mobile dashboard to monitor your server in real time: active sessions, user activity, analytics, integrations, all from your Android phone.
It integrates with the full self-hosted media stack: Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, Bazarr, Jellyseerr, qBittorrent, Deluge, Transmission, SABnzbd, Jellystat, and more. Everything you'd otherwise open in a separate browser tab, grouped into one app with a consistent UI.
A few months after launching JellyWatch, I released EmbyWatch, the same concept adapted for Emby servers. Both apps are maintained in parallel and share the same community on Discord.
Development & Community
JellyWatch is free to use. A premium tier is available for users who want to unlock advanced features and support ongoing development. The project has no external funding, no VC backing, no telemetry sold to third parties. Every improvement comes from real feedback from the community, with feature requests and bug reports coming directly from Discord.
The codebase is private but the roadmap is public: major features are discussed openly with the community before being implemented.
